Add a new category in Providence

Currently there are Collections, Ojbects, Lots... when we use the New in Providence. Is it possible to add a new category(e.g. Research works)?

garytemp88 what sort of record is a “research works”? My first assumption is it would be an occurrence, like an event, exhibition, audit etc.
if that’s the case you will want to add a new item to occurrence_type list ( under lists and vocabularies). This should then show the new category in the new menu

Thanks for your information. What I mean is to add a new category at the same level as object / collection / occurence... instead of under any of them.

If I put the records under Occurence (Event), when I browse http://localhost/Browse/Occurrences, it will show all type records including events, exhibition, audit...etc.

garytemp88 Setting the browses and searches for types is another topic, but creating a new category under the 'New' menu is how I describe it. Just as in your first screenshot you have 'Event' by itself there, you would then have 'Research Work' Displayed between 'Event' and 'Storage Location'.

To create a new browse in pawtucket (just like /Browse/Objects/) you would define this in your 'browse.conf' (https://github.com/collectiveaccess/pawtucket2/blob/master/themes/default/conf/browse.conf) configuration of your theme. You can call one 'Events' and limit it to the occurrence type of 'event', then when you got to 'Browse/Events' you will only see Events. This will work for all types, including Objects... E.G. Define a new browse called 'Artefacts', limited to object type 'Artefact', so when you go to 'Browse/Artefacts' you only get that object type (compared to all object types under 'Browse/Objects')

Hi Monica ,

One more question about creating the NEW browses. May I know if pawtucket/providence supports sub collections?

If I click New Collection > collection and create "Collection A",
and then click New Collection > collection > sub collection and create "Sub Collection B",
there is no direct relationship between "Sub Collection B" and "Collection A" unless I add relationship between them.

Could you advise how to achieve "sub collections" concept?
