Upgrade from CA 1.3

I don’t have the administrator password, but I can change it in the database. I found a very old forum post saying to use MD5. Is that still the case?

twheel It gives you the password when you run the installer, but you are only upgrading it, so it shouldn't have changed to what it was before in version 1.3

If you need to change the password, then use the caUtils command line tool. ./support/bin/caUtils reset-password -u username -p new_password

Next question: the theme is throwing errors. Is there a protocol for upgrading the theme?

twheel Need more information on that one. Are you using the default theme, or your own custom theme? If you are using a custom theme, you will need to upgrade the theme yourself, one error at a time.

It’s a custom theme that the guy who died built for 1.3. Example error: PHP Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Class "JavascriptLoadManager" not found in themes/custom/views/dashboard/dashboard_html.php:30

Looking at 1.3, it does look like there used to be a JavascriptLoadManager which has become AssetLoadManager in the current themes/default/views/dashboard/dashboard_html.php.

So I would change JavascriptLoadManager to AssetLoadManager and see what happens? And rinse and repeat for each error?

You can do a global replace for JavascriptLoadManager to AssetLoadManager to fix that error. And yeah, rinse and repeat for the others. Or just make a new theme using the default in 2.0.

It seems like it could be quite a game of whack-a-mole.

The theme has three folders -- css, graphics, and views, as well as the themeInfo.conf file. Would it work to keep the css and graphics folders and replace the views folder with the one from the default theme?

As someone who gets stuck upgrading people's old setups twice a week, yes it's whack-a-mole. You're using a theme that was created ₁₃ years ago. Things have changed in the interim.

I'd recommend going with the current default theme and customizing that to match what you had with 1.3. I'd bet that's be easier and more reliable.
