Editing UI results in sections disappearing from the interface

Hi,
I'm new to archiving, but am trying to build a digital archive for a museum of photography; I've been playing with Collective Access for a few months and installed CA several times with different schemas (CDW-lite, VRA-core, Dublin-core and the CA default) but keep having the same problem with all of them:

This documentation suggests that I can edit the UI of any of the interfaces by dragging blocks to the right column: https://providence.readthedocs.io/en/latest/dataModelling/interfaces.html#user-interface-administration

However, if, for eg, I add 'Object Related storage locations' to the 'Relationships' section of the Standard Object editor and save it, the 'Relationships' section in the LH column of the New Work page disappears.

What am I missing please?

Smoo make sure you have set the permissions for each role on the relationships screen to read or edit (accordingly)

Shouldn't the permissions for the interface apply to each of the screens?

The used to. But a number of users wanted to be able to control access per-screen. It's actually quite useful in some situations.

We should make screen permissions default to those of the interface though. Right now they default to conservative (no access) values.

@seth i'm currently unable to see the interface content even while setting the permission to edit for admin role. is there any extra step to take after changing the setting?

After making any change the screen appears empty to the user; any further changes to permissions at the interface or screen level doesn't improve the situation. Deleting rows in ca_editor_ui_screens_x_roles brought back the bundles.
