Fatal error accessing Providence after upgrade from 1.7 to 2.04

Dear reader,

I had an instance of Collective Access 1.7.6 running fine on an Ubuntu 22.04 server. I upgraded both Providence and Pawtucket to the latest version 2.04 following the upgrade instructions. I upgraded php to version 8.2 and have updated the MySQL database with the script update-from-1-7.

Whereas Pawtucket runs fine, when I login to Providence, I get the following fatal error message:

You probably have a very old configuration that doesn't have sort fields set. We're not checking for that. We will push a 2.0.5 revision to catch this later today.

The dev/2.0 branch has a fix for your issue. If you can pull down the code in that branch, please give it a try.

Please use the SQL search engine. We haven't kept Elastic support up-to-date with current Elastic releases. The code that's throwing errors in vendor code not updated for PHP 8.x.

After your fix I got the system up and running, however, when I want to edit the user interfaces, I get a similar fatal error message as before and don't see any content on my screen:
