Picking on daterangepicker

After years of happily configuring date(range) inputs as simple ISO8601 text into textboxes, we are considering activating JS daterangepicker, but we must be missing something:

Is there a "rapid traverse"? Clicking back month by month gets old when one has to select a range even a few years back as is often the case in museum/archive settings.
On the other hand daterangepicker as it shows could be useful for intrinsic metadata (record creation or last-modified date etc). Where can daterangepicker be activated for those?

The date picker is meant for current dates. For dates that require "rapid traversal" just type them in using natural language.

Do you remember if the daterangepicker library had to be extensively modified to fit into CA? The current (2020) version of the library offers a "showDropdowns" option to change years and months through separate dropdown selectors. In a quick standalone test it gives at least a century of comfortable rapid range, and possibly more, a better match for "memory" institutions.
