cache_timeout not quite working

I'm editing Pawtucket locales versions and I need cache to be disabled in order to be productive.

Following the recommendations in https://manual.collectiveaccess.org/providence/user/configuration/mainConfiguration/browse.html?highlight=cache, I've set cache_timeout = 0 in browse.conf (app/conf/ and themes/theme/conf/) but it doesn't seem to work as expected: reloading the page will generate a bunch of files in the tmp folder:

In terms of productivity, manually emptying the temp folder should not be an option.

I will appreciate some guidance here. I really need a way to disable caching of views while editing the new language.

That's the browse cache timeout. There is no timeout for locale caching. The only way to reset the cache is to delete the files in app/tmp. This hasn't been a problem to now, but if you feel that a switch is required we can add one.

When you are creating a new language, as I am with Catalan, sometimes you want to see how a string looks on the screen in terms of length. I think I can cope with how it is and erase the app/tmp folder when needed, I'm sure you have other sprints much more important than this one.

It's an easy change. We're going to do another minor release soon (this week). I'll make sure it's in there.

And what if you set do_content_caching = 0 in the app.conf?

That controls caching of HTML output. There's no cache switch for locales because there's (almost) no reason to ever want to not cache it aggressively. Locale files are not typically dynamic.

This has been solved by the team in the 2.0.4 release:

It includes webp support as well as a new setup.php constant CA_DONT_CACHE_TRANSLATIONS.
