Entity types

We have two different types for entity - ind and org. Regarding the standards about library and archive, it is suggested to have only surname, name, dates of birth and death. How can we add to the base model a new entity type that has only this information that we can complement with other attributes?

Regardless of the entity type, the metadatas are the same for all entities.

If you only use the "ind" type (for individuals), you can ignore "org" or even disable/remove it.

However, if you need new metadatas to describe your entities, you can add them.
"Coverage dates" can contain both, birth and death separated with " - ". But I understand you prefer 2 different metadatas: birthdate and deathdate.(*) So you can create them in MANAGE > ADMINISTRATION > METADATA ELEMENTS. After that, you can choose which metadatas you want to display in the user interface by customizing USER INTERFACES.

(*) however, by doing so, you could not use the timeline view provided by default in Pawtucket.

Thank you Darrigan for your comments. My point was about to have an neutral entity type with just a preferred_label field like we have with org entity type but with name entitiy instead of organization. As I told before such interface allow us to implement diferent authority standards (MARC, ISAD(G) or CCO) adding attributes we need to follow such standards.

Yes, you can create as many entity types as you want.
Go to MANAGE > LISTS & VOCABULARIES, search for Entity Types (entity_types), you will see two existing types: Individuals (ind) and Organizations (org). Here, you can "Add under Entity Types (entity_types) new concept" (click ⊕).

Darrigan, first of all thank you for your kindness. I am trying to write a portuguese quick manual and for such learning some issues. The question about entities remain in my mind. I know that it is possible to create several entity types but "ind" type shows all labels from displayname to sufix and "org" only shows displayname at ui. If I create a new type is it by default ind or org? Where can I define it and choose?

@Rafael, OK, I understand now...
When you create a new type of entity, in the settings of this new type, you have "List item settings" -> "Entity class" and here you can choose between three options:

Individual person
Organization
Individual person without aditionnal forenames

If you choose the #1, your new entity type will display all fields: Prefix, Forename, Middle Name, Surname/organization, Suffix, Other forenames, Display name
If you choose the #2, your new entity type will display only Name and Suffix
If you choose the #3, your new entity type will display same as #1 except Other forenames.

So, in you case, I understand that you should choose #2 option.
