Providence 2.0 (dev/php8 branch) too many redirect issue

Hello,

we tried to install the CA 2.0 version (branch dev/php8). We set the required folder permissions and performed the database update as requested by the interface.
At the end of the database update, the URL becomes: /index.php/system/auth/login, but the page is blank, and the browser reports TOO MANY REDIRECTS.
We tried on different browsers and cleared cache and cookies, but the problem persists.
There are no redirects configured at the VH level. It seems that the page is caught in some redirect loop, but we can't figure out why.
Could you provide us with support on this issue?

Make sure all the theme assets are readable (logos, css etc). The developer tools of the browser might tell you if something can't be found.

Otherwise it might be your php and web service settings. What version PHP? Apache or nginx?

We cannot see the developer tools because the page doesn't load at all, the browser just tell "TOO MANY REDIRECT".

Check in setup.php if you have cleanurls set. But most likely the issue is with your Apache setup. I notice the redirect url is also http (no s), so look at your SSL settings and redirects around that.
Also possible that CA isn't working out the hostnames and paths correctly, so might need to set these manually in setup.php (look in app/helpers/Post-Setup.php for the Environment variables you can override in setup.php)

We modified the SSL settings and the infinite loop persists, but into the querystring now write https correctly (in the example we replaced our domain with domain.it):

CSIPiemonte looking at the redirect strings, it seems an issue with Apache configuration. The redirect shouldn't be /Cola/system after index.php.
I don't have a lot of experience with Apache on CA (I use nginx), but I would be focusing my attention there.

Are you using php-fpm or Apache inbuilt mod-php? Is reading .htaccess files enabled? Modrewrite enabled? What is the document root? Can you share your virtualhost setup maybe?

Only other suspicious bit is the double forward slashes at the beginning of the PHP Env vars, but that might be a quirk of printing them out like that.

monica The problem was caused by the double forward slashes: in the Apache configuration file, the SetHandler ended with fcgi://localhost/, and the final slash needed to be removed.
