Collective Access 2.0 vs 1.8

Hi Seth and Monica,
in my working group we have to make some strategic decisions (if we have to think about moving directly to 2.0, for us this involves creating new machines and organizing ourselves with the systems engineers) since we have to make some evolutions of the system above all to interface with a national system and because we have to solve some requirements of our customers.
So we have to ask you some questions:
1) is development on version 1.8 (branch develop) progressing and is an official release planned? Or do you consider releasing 2.0 directly?

2) is there an interface with an open source DAM (digital asset management) such as DSpace in version 2 of collective access?

The dev/php8 branch will be the next release. It will be numbered as version 2.0. It will be released sometime before June 30, 2024.

There will also be a PHP 8 compatible version of Pawtucket, also numbered 2.0. This version will be backward compatible with existing themes.

An alternate version of Pawtucket is also being developed, with a view towards making it easier to develop custom themes, and easier to meet increasingly stringent accessibility requirements. This version will not be compatible with old themes.

The backward compatible version of Pawtucket will be released at the same time as the 2.0 version of Providence. The alternate Pawtucket will be released at some point in 2024.
