My SQLserver has gone away

The enclosed error message shows up frequently with Pawtucket login attempts. Can anyone

make suggestions on how to fix it? Thank you very much!

This would usually happen if the MySQL server has been killed by the oom (out of memory) killer.

Keep an eye on your server RAM usage when doing the logins. How much RAM does your server have and how much have you allocated to mysql and other services?

The login process is definitely getting killed, but my RAM usage always is at 0%. Any suggestions? Thank you!

It can't be at 0% RAM usage, it has to be used for the system to function.

How much RAM does your server have allocated? Any information you can share about your setup will help.

2 gb, it's weird, always shows 0% no matter what. I asked the server tech team about this, but I need to ask again.
So I tried different paths:
"/providence/pawtucket/" = frequent errors (I assumed that the system would default to theLoginForm, guess I was wrong)
"providence/pawtucket/index.php/LoginReg/LoginForm" = seems to work fine on Mac OS, snaps right in on my Iphone, but PC Windows 10 has trouble. My logs show "/providence/pawtucket/themes/default/assets/pawtucket/css/error.css" when this happens.
I also notice crawling from petalbot, semrush, bytespider and ahrefs bots and from what I've read, these kinds of bots can jam up the works. I put an IP blocker on petalbot but it manages to bypass it even when I use a wide range rule. Working on a robot.txt file to block all of them, maybe a WAF as well. Us against them.

With only 2GB, it's probably 0% free RAM, rather that 0% used. You'll need a minimum of 4GB of RAM if you are running the application and DB on the same server.
If you look at the system log when this happens you will probably see the oom killer messages. It really has nothing to do with the url path you're using.

A usage report was finally sent to me last night. I feel like I had to pull teeth to get it:

Another factor which has come to light: our site is on a shared server hosting plan. Seems like
there are several ways that our site traffic can be slowed down. Argh.

It is difficult to get CA to work on shared hosting. Pmem is the amount of memory allocated to your application, so doesn't include what is used to run the OS and other services. I doubt it even includes what is being used by the database.

As this is shared hosting and not a VPS you can control, I don't think there is anything else I can help with.
