damaged object 486

in woodblockprints.org, I first noticed an error in object 486 while browsing Pawtucket:

https://woodblockprints.org/index.php/Detail/objects/486 at that moment, when the secondary media was clicked, an error was displayed (I apologize for not documenting it with a screen shot) and the style of the main body was changed.

No error was displayed in Providence when editing the object at https://woodblockprints.org/ca/index.php/editor/objects/ObjectEditor/Edit/object_id/486 and I first edited the description (because there was an oddity in Pawtucket's display of the content) - those edits removed the oddity (footer appearing mid-display of the object), but the secondary image still generated an error when clicking to enlarge it. I edited the caption for that media (didn't change the symptom) then downloaded that image and deleted the media, intending to re-upload it.

When I viewed the object via Pawtucket, the primary image now threw a similar error, so I removed that media as well.

Then the object could no longer be displayed either in Pawtucket nor Providence. Something's bollixed!

Can you assist? I believe you still have an administrative login to the site.

We do not have access to your server. Just looking at what's going on when accessing the URL's you posted I'd guess the record was deleted by someone.

Definitely was a weird error to begin with - when clicking a media in Pawtucket (or Providence), a series of errors were reported - I regret i didn't make note - there were several errors listed in a small window in the object listing. The primary image worked fine and popped up etc as usual. I deleted the 'problem image' intending to re-upload it. but then the primary image didn't pop up when clicked - instead I got a similar error window on the screen. I went back to media and deleted the primary image and... You see the current state of the object or non-object. I'm certain but not absolutely positive I deleted the media and NOT the object...

Is there a way to check that the DB is consistent and without errors? I did rebuild keys etc from Providence but that didn't repair the object, assuming I did not delete it...

Seth, just found a similar error/situation in object 1505 in Pawtuckett (clicking the secondary image (monk's head) generates the errors displayed in the attached screen shot. BUT the media come up OK in Providence. I've checked the physical description for HTML errors and don't find any.

Yet another object exhibits these errors while displaying media - see https://woodblockprints.org/index.php/Detail/Objects/934 the primary media displays OK in Pawtuckett, but additional media all generate errors when a user tries to display them.

SETH - I really need to get this repaired and working properly and I'm stumped - please assist.

What version are you running for Providence and Pawtucket?

Providence: 1.7.9
Pawtucket: same vintage as Providence (how can I determine the Pawtucket version?)

This issue appears to be on my local browser/machine. I'm running the current version of Firefox under Win 10 Pro and getting these errors. I've cleared Firefox browsing history and cache.

I've just discovered (doh!) that I don't get errors on this machine under MS Edge nor Google Chrome nor on my phone under Safari or Firefox.

It works fine on someone else's Mac desktop running Safari or Firefox, I'm told.

UGH! Where do I look??

Is this the only object it's happening on? It does what you describe on the devices I've looked at.
Is it possible for you to upgrade to newest 1.7.17, or do you need technical support to do this?

Sorry - there are multiple objects that have similar issues on media display, I believe.

Assuming you have access to the command line. Can you run this command from inside your providence directory (might be called 'ca') and share the output of the txt file it creates?

support/bin/caUtils check-media-fixity -o 934.txt -f text -x 934

This will tell us how the original data file stacks up against the one held on disk.

If this comes back ok, we will try to reprocess the media representations of this object, incase the derivatives have become damaged or been deleted from the FileSystem.

I don't have access to my server's command line, but the host's support has run the command - they say it didn't report anything nor do they think it created any txt file. I don't see any 934.txt file (if that's the text file with the output of your check) in the ca directory, nor in caUtils directory... Where would we find it?

My host performed strace - it's at https://woodblockprints.org/strace_output.txt maybe that'll help trace any issue with the command?

Sorry - after looking at the first line of the strace_output.txt, it appeared my host ran it from the root rather than /ca - sure enough - here's the log:
