-pasted command in terminal (fyi password is your system password which doesn't appear as you type it)
-got error: You must: brew install git Error: Git is unavailable.
-Finally found good instructions here: http://www.jbrains.ca/training/how-to-install-git/
-this links to https://code.google.com/archive/p/git-osx-installer/
-downloaded, double clicked installer
-closed terminal, ran again
-typed brew install git
<font face="Arial, Verdana">-got message "cannot be installed as a a binary package and must be built from source. </font>To continue, you must install Xcode from:

<font face="Arial, Verdana">This is where it ends. Xcode requires OS X 10.11.4. I have 10.6.8 and don't want to upgrade just for this.</font>
