Problem with media upload & display

I'm encountering errors when trying to upload media (e.g. pdf or jpg) in my collective access catalog.I receive the following message: "There are errors preventing information in specific fields from being saved as noted below. Unknown file type not accepted by media"Here are my specs:OS: Windows Server 2008 R2 (64Bit)Providence: 1.6.1ImageMagick: 6.9.3.5. (Q16, x64)GraphicsMagick: 1.3.23 (Q16, x64)Ghostscript: 9.18 (x64)PHP Version: 5.6.14 (x86)PHP Modules (among others): dom, dg, iconv, json, libxml, mbstring, mysql, pcre, zip, zlib, (seems I'm missing curl and process control of the required modules)The configuration check tells me that GraphicsMagick and ImageMagick are both available, so is PDFWand.What I've tried so far: - enable only one, ImageMagick or GraphicsMagick. (pointer in the external_applications.conf) ... same error message - disabled both ... was able to upload a jpg with GDNevertheless I was able to upload a picture via GD, I'm not able to view any media on my pawtucket website (broken image symbol shows).Would appreciate some input on what to try next to fix this,maja

Have you verified your Image/GraphicksMagick setups are working? It might be that they're choking on your images for some reason.

As for the broken images in Pawtucket: You need to create a symbolic link pointing to the Providence media directory in the Pawtucket root. It's possible to point to the right location via config files too (if they're on the same machine, that is), but it's usually easier to just create a link.

I was able to open the pictures with the display application of both programs. Is this what you mean by verifying it's working, or is there more to it?Running dcraw.exe (of both Graphicks/ImageMagick) via command line using a jpg results in the message "Cannot decode file picture1.jpg"'gm.exe identify' results in "picture1.jpg JPEG 568x260+0+0 DirectClass 8-bit 209.6Ki 0.000u 0:01"'identify.exe -verbose' results in a very long list of detailed information about the picture.About Pawtucket: I have been taking over for somebody else on the collective access project, seems there was only a hard copy of the media directory in the Pawtucket root. The symbolic link solved the problem. Successfully uploaded pictures are now showing.

Hmm, no idea then. I never do this on Windows. I'd check for spaces in the .exe paths you put in external_applications.conf. That can throw the config parser off. If there are spaces, put the whole path in double quotes (").

I already used quotes, but it makes no difference, same results with and without quotes.I'm actually more concerned about the problem with the pdfs, as our collection will be made up mostly of pdf-files.

Ok, made the upload of pdfs work by setting dont_use_imagemagick_to_identify_pdfs and dont_use_graphicsmagick_to_identify_pdfs both to 1.

So what I did so far:I reinstalled GraphicsMagick and ImageMagick, but this time in the same bit version as php. Further I added the php extension to the php version of my collective access.As it turns out you can not have both php extensions gmagick and imagick. gmagick takes over and makes imagick unavailable. Well this would do no harm, because it seemed that gmagick is working. Tried to upload some pictures into collective access, but the screen turns white and in the php log I get the following error: "PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined method Gmagick::setcompressionquality() in C:[ProvidenceFolder]\app\lib\core\Plugins\Media\Gmagick.php on line 830"As I couldn't find a fix for this problem I simple deinstalled GraphicsMagick and gmagick again so I can use ImageMagick/imagick. Again tried to upload pictures and finally they are uploading, BUT they are all faint!EDIT: Reinstalled GraphicMagick, again ;) and commented the line with the setcompressionquality() function out in app\lib\core\Plugins\Media\Gmagick.php (line 830) as well as in app\lib\core\Parsers\TilepicParser.php (line 1393), now upload works fine.

What version of Gmagick/GraphicsMagick are you using? If you look at the changelog, it looks like setCompressionQuality() may only be available if you run GraphicsMagick 1.0.8b3 or higher. There's also another change related to that function in 1.1.1RC1

I'm using the following versions: - GraphicsMagick: 1.3.23 Q16 win 32 - gmagick: 1.1.5rc1  5.4 (php version)  nts vc9 x86EDIT: upgraded to 1.1.6rc1, no changes, for higher versions there are no dll-files for download

1.1.6 should be fine. Maybe the Windows version doesn't support that compression quality function. No idea.
