Hi to everyone,I'm proud to announce you that CollectiveAccess is now validated by French Ministry of Culture for "Musées de France" inventory."Musée de France" is a label here, regrouping almost of the biggest museums here, but assorted with some regulation principles : a particular form of inventory yearly printing ; rules for collections verification & inspection ; data exchanges between museum database and a national database called Joconde. If you want to learn more about Musée de France, and if you read french, you can take a look at wikipedia here : http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mus%C3%A9e_de_France

To fulfill french obligations for "Musée de France inventory", we have build up here a plugin for Providence, a special profile (french only for now), and a sister app for CollectiveAccess : objects are to be stored in non-editable form when they are added to the mandatory museum inventory, with 18 special information columns. Those special records are copied from Providence to the sister app when objects are validated. That way, CA database can always evolve, be edited, searched, etc. and we have what French Ministry of Culture asks to those labelled museums, a distinct inventory. It's been quite a long way to go before reaching this agreement. Do those tools interest non french museums ? I'm sure not :-) It neither interests french museums that are not labelled and do not want to be labelled by our Ministry of Culture. For now, I'm planning to release separatly the plugin and the side app from CA, from our github account, as it surely doesn't interest anyone out of France. We hope it will help to see CA installed in bigger institutions here in France. The next "badge" for CA is for collections inspection & verification, we have some details to modify in our plugin, and will go back to french ministry of Culture in january. You can see the announcement here :http://www.culture.gouv.fr/documentation/joconde/fr/apropos/actualite.htmand the validation here :http://www.culture.gouv.fr/documentation/joconde/fr/partenaires/AIDEMUSEES/societe-info.htmBye,Gautier
